There are steps such MIC checking (designed to
authenticate the config file in the modem), MAC/IP
checking, using DOCSIS 1.1 and others to control
the uncapping methods.
Uncapping a cable modem by a user
is theft of bandwidth and can land one in trouble.
Stay away from it.
